Chapter 1 provides an insightful definition and description of culture and cultural differences Culture is defined differently In an overview, it refers to the way of life of a group of people These include traditions, values, beliefs, knowledge, morals, arts, laws, customs, as well as other habits that are aired by people in a given society One salient feature of culture is that it differs from place to place This is manifested through different characteristics such as language, food, tradition, clothes, dance, arts, music, sports, religion, political ideology, and beauty, among others This explains why there exist cultural differences between and among societies The variations in the way of life, clothing, ideology, traditions, arts, and music among others, provide the basis for differences among cultures In some instances, we observe actions that are very different from our own
